| There are many levels of security to protect your information entered on Web-Link. This document explains the five tiers of protection in Web-Link. Remember, any security is most effective when all users follow all recommendations. |
 |
| Security Provided by Web-Link |
| Web Security |
| Web-Link runs on a secure web-site (SSL 128-bit, port 443 technology). A secure Web site provides secure communication and has a valid certificate. Secure communication means that the information that you provide, such as passwords, names, and other information is encrypted during transmission from your computer to the Web site, so that it can't be read or intercepted by other people. The certificate is a statement verifying the security of the site. A certificate contains information that a specific Web site is authentic. This ensures that no other site can assume the identity of the original site. Data in Web-Link are protected by an industry-approved firewall separating the database from the web-site. All files ready to be viewed, printed, or downloaded, are encrypted. All data temporarily stored on Web-Link are encrypted. User passwords are also encrypted. |

| Security You Provide |
| Browser security |
| For the highest level of security, do not allow your browser to save your password for you. If you do, anyone can use your computer to access your Web-Link account simply by knowing your account number. Click here for instructions. |
 |
| Account Security |
| Web-Link accounts are password-protected at the user level. There are two levels of users, with supervisors having access to all Web-Link functions, and restricted users having access to all data entry and scoring functions. Never share your account number or password with anyone. Use passwords that contain a mixture of numbers and letters and that are unique from other passwords you use. Account supervisors can increase security by a) limiting the number of supervisor-equivalent users, and b) periodically issuing new passwords to all users. |
 |
| Data Security |
IDs are REQUIRED for each entered form. The option to display names on profiles and narratives scored in Web-Link is possible only by permission of the account supervisor. The account supervisor must first agree to the conditions stated in a release document. The account supervisor can choose to allow respondent names as well as child and adult names to be included in data downloaded to ADM.
If you use an ID system for ADM, be sure to use the same system in Web-Link to avoid data being associated with the incorrect person. For help in creating an ID system, click here.
There is no long-term data storage on Web-Link. It is the user's responsibility to download data and scored output in a timely manner, then to delete them. The expiration dates assigned by Web-Link represent the date your output and electronic form requests will be permanently removed from Web-Link. |

| Security Shared by You and Web-Link |
| PC Security |
| Cookies (files Web-Link uses to constantly maintain high security) that are sent to your computer are stored in your computer's RAM in encrypted format. Your cookie is deactivated each time you log out of Web-Link and deleted when you close your browser. For greatest security, be sure to log out every time you finish, then close your browser. |
